October Lesson Plans

I’m trying out a new style of lesson planning involving links back to all activities and visuals to remind myself (and my assistant) what we are working on each session.

I created 3 levels of lesson plans. These correspond with my leveled Homework and are approximately equivalent to:

Level 1 (Kindergarten/1st grade)
Level 2 (2nd/3rd grade)
Level 3 (4th/5th grade)

In addition, I have left the right column intentionally blank (for now) because I will hand write in the individual goals. For example, during the first session of a Level 1 group, I may want Johnny to specifically work on “identifying colors”, whereas Sam may be working on the sentence frame “I see….” I will write both into the right column.

Hopefully this will be a useful tool for me both this year, and in years to come as well as make each day’s activities run smoothly for myself, my student intern, and my assistant (that’s a lot of people to manage!).

  1. What a great idea! Do you have a template that you are using for this? Also, what do you do for your artic kids? Do you have a separate lesson plan form for them or do you incorporate the above activities? Love your blog. Love your ideas! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Good questions! I just made a template for it with a “table” in Powerpoint. Nothing to it! For artic kids, I just incorporate their articulation goals into these goals. For my older kids that are articulation only, I have them in daily Speech Club.

  2. Great lesson plans! Do you have any plans to make them available to download? I’m new to your blog, and I was hoping to access those for my own use. Thanks!

    1. I thought about it, but then realized it didn’t seem appropriate to put onto TpT and I’ve had trouble with Google Drive. So I just took a big screen shot of it and included all the websites in case you want to do some/all of the same activities.

    2. changed my mind and made them downloadable! and free!

  3. These are great! Do you have other months available? I would purchase these on TPT if you change your mind and post them there. Please do!

    1. I don’t have any other months at this point. Sorry! I make them up month by month. I’m not sure if you want a few of the months as I literally just do the same book companion for the entire month for certain levels! 😉 That’s what I love about book companion units!

    2. made them a free download!

  4. I would appreciate other months even if they involve just a single book! I am trying to do therapy cased on book units, but I am not nearly as creative or organized as you are!

  5. I, too, would love other months! I love using books in therapy and agree with Molly! I am not as organized or creative as you! If you are willing to share, I’d be willing to purchase! Lesson planning is something I struggle with and I feel so much better when I’m prepared and have a plan.

    1. Ok. I have a plan beginning in November!

    2. made them into a free download!
