Description
A Speech/Language Dynamic Assessment and Response to Intervention Unit
An effective assessment for English Language Learners (ELD) includes a Dynamic Assessment, including determining whether the student can learn new language skills as a level commensurate with other typical language learners. Additionally, as more school districts move towards Response to Intervention (RTI), it is also necessary to know if students can respond to interventions and start making progress after several rounds of direct instruction.
Jack and the Beanstalk RTI unit provides the SLP, ELD, or General education teacher the needed tools to quickly assess a student’s retelling and vocabulary levels. There are materials to provide 2-3 sessions of intervention. Finally the post-test is administered and scores are compared. The data provided by the Jack and the Beanstalk RTI unit is extremely valuable in making decisions about referrals for special education and language difference versus disorder.
Please note that this unit is NOT standardized. It is meant to be an informal measure of skills and progress only.
No-prep Data Collection
For each level, there is an option to collect all data on the computer using fillable pdf forms. This allows the educator to only need to prepare the materials once, and no need to print off extra data forms. It also allows the educator to quickly print off final results on the summary page and have a professional-looking summary for team meetings.
