Pain-I-Am
A poem in honor of Professor X, inspired by Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham.
I-am-pain.
Pain-I-am.
That Pain-I-am
That awful pain!
I do not like
Its horrid drain.
Do you like
Relentless pain?
I do not like overwhelming
Chronic pain.
Nor feeling like
Impaled with my cane.
I do not like it
Here or there.
As it takes over
Everywhere.
I do not like
Oppressive pain.
Nor feeling like
Impaled with my cane.
Would you like it if you didnโt have to work?
Would you like it if you thought there would be a perk?
I do not like having
No income or work.
I have yet to find
A single perk.
I do not like it
Here or there.
As it takes over<
Everywhere.
I do not like
Oppressive pain.
Nor feeling like
Impaled with my cane.
Would you like bottles of pills?
Would you like pharmacy bills?
No bottles of pills.
No pharmacy bills.
No lack of work.
No single perk.
I would not like it
here or there.
As it takes over
Everywhere.
I do not like
Oppressive pain.
Nor feeling like
Impaled with my cane.
Would you like if you lost weight?
Would you like if lying down was your fate?
The first 10 pounds lost was great.
But now I’ve lost over 58!
Lying in bed was comfy at first,
But not being able to sit or stand is the worst!
No bottles of pills.
No pharmacy bills.
No lack of work.
No single perk.
I would not like it
here or there.
As it takes over
Everywhere.
I do not like
Oppressive pain.
Nor feeling like
Impaled with my cane.
Oh, that’s so awful. I cannot imagine how it affects him and your whole family.
You definitely get points for creatively dealing with your frustration. {{hugs}}
