Sometimes we need visuals at home too!
Part of the pain The biggest pain regarding my cast and crutches is that I am unable to do almost anything around the house. Pick up trash? Nope. Load of laundry. Nuh uh. Get new toilet paper down from the cabinet. Not even close.
So, the kids have had to step it up. A lot. (Which I know is good for my over-indulged, fully Americanized and entitled feeling children: read this link to support this statement!)
They are praying for the day when mom has 2 feet and 2 hands again to help lighten their load. Particularly their laundry load. Until that day, I have created a visual task list for my daughter who cannot recall 2 part directions to save her life.
I made this using actual pictures of our machine using my phone. I then emailed the pictures to myself and inserted them into a power point (you can manipulate pictures pretty well in power point), sequenced the directions, and voila!
Although these directions have not helped the whining, I think they have really helped the kids become laundry masters… even if I do reclaim SOME of the laundry duties in a few weeks. ๐
I need to do this…but not for kids…for the husband.
Laundry,
How to out toilet paper on roll.
How to put dishes in dishwasher
How to do dishes
How to throw away something empty
Oh..this list goes on and on!
I think you have something here…..
๐
The picture idea for these chores is clever–I could envision an entire book of reproducible chore lists like this!

Haha, I enjoyed Chicory’s comment above!!
I have often thought of doing this, too, for cleaning the bathroom, morning routine, and laundry. But, of course, I still haven’t. Your kids will be MILES ahead of the game, thanks to your summer disability.
Hang in there, friend!!
I wonder if you PowerPoint instructions would work on my husband ๐
Hope you’re on the mend soon.
