Wordless Wednesday will be for me to talk about one of my passion: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ways to communicate without your larynx)
Check out this incredible video of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users in the UK!
AAC can take many different forms. One form is specialized devices that allow the user to say anything they want (generative), or pre-programmed messages. Some AAC users use communication boards (pictures or words that they point to) to get their message across. Some use American Sign Language or gestures to help them communicate (no, I am not talking about people who are necessarily hard of hearing, I am referring to people that for neurological or muscular reasons are unable to speak). Many use all of the above! I love AAC and spent an entire year after graduate school doing an internship on just that!
