Sometimes, I feel so…small

There is so little that I can do.

I can’t eliminate Professor X’s excruciating and constant pain.

I can’t change my students’ cognitive abilities, economic status, or family life.

I can’t be the best Speech Pathologist ever, and get winded when I even think about the effort involved.

I can’t be there for my kids while I’m working or trying to run errands, the household, etc.

I can’t even blog consistently anymore (even though I love the friends and feedback that I’ve gleaned!).

It all feels big. Really, really BIG . (and a little scary!)

  1. You know what? You have more on your plate than a lot of us do, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed once in a while (or more often).

Sometimes there’s no escaping the face that life has great big scary teeth.

I hope things look up for you soon. And you will be the best speech pathologist that THOSE kids will ever have.

  2. It’s okay to be tired and it’s okay to vent. It’s okay to be cheesed off about the things that cheese you off ! It’s even okay to just do a ‘that will do’ job, instead of trying to be ‘Super Woman’. What good is a fairy tale without a complication and resolution. Hang in there.Everything comes to pass, not to stay 🙂

  3. Feeling overwhelmed and hopeless is a scary place to be. I struggle with that too sometimes. It’s hard to practice gratitude when everything feels stacked against you and your faith is being shaken and tested, I know.

Oh, my friend, my heart aches for you! Sometimes God feels so far away, but I’m learning (VERY slowly) that these are opportunities to rely on what we KNOW, not on how we feel. It’s sometimes all we have, because feelings can be so fickle.

    I will pray. {♥}

  4. Life is hard. And it sure can be scary. But you can do it. You’ll make it.
Take a break from blogging. One less thing. And we will all be here when you get back. 🙂

  5. You DO a lot. You make a difference each day as you teach those kids. From your posts, it’s easy to tell what a great support you are to your husband and your kids. But I understand feeling overwhelmed…believe me. I went for couple months hardly blogging at all. Life was just too crazy. So don’t even worry about that. Like Kat said, we’ll be here.

  6. I’ll second Chris’ comment.
Sometimes life throws us cure balls and the trick is figuring out how to hit them.

  7. Oh sweetie, don’t get all down on yourself. I had to cut back, the Ponderosa is a very busy place and Hub’s holds down a full time job so much of the operation falls in my lap. I only post about once a week and those things that are out of our control are just that. Take it from an old chick!

Ya’ll have a fabulously blessed weekend!!!

  8. Let’s see,
    1. Teaching in difficult area (Check)
    2. Homeschooling daughter while working fulltime (check)
    3. Husband with chronic medical condition (check)
    4. need to spend valuable time couponing and flyer gazing to find all the best deals to stretch that ginormous (cough cough) paycheck (check)
ummm, the fact that you blog at all is miraculous.
    Hang in there!!!!!

  9. Pace yourself, friend. Take a deep breath and do what you can for the most important people in your life.

  10. (((hugs))))

    life is big and scary

    it’s OK to feel overwhelmed.

I’m feeling much the same this month

  11. Personally, I loved your honesty! Thanks for sharing you great picture and an honest snapshot of what is shaking around in your heart and mind right now.

  12. It seems that the title of your blog is more fitting then ever. We all get like that. Just take a deep breath and do what you can in a day. And then, at the end of the day, hug your children because in the end, that’s all that really matters.

    (((HUGS)))

  13. But there is probably a lot of things you can do!

  14. I know you know this, but the last thing you should inflict on yourself is blog guilt. Last year I did a lot of that and it didn’t help anything. It just added to my stress. Blogging should be a fun thing, not something that worries you. Post when you can and when you do, we’ll come around to visit.

In the meantime, I really hope things get better at your house. Heaven knows you deserve for them to be.

  15. Life can get a little bit too big at times. It is hard to know when and where to cut back to make it all fit in a perfectly wrapped package.

I don’t post as often as I used to either. I pretty much skip to a twice a week routine and make my post short and sweet. If I tried for more I would surely quit.

So not a downer at all…..just a reality that I think we all face.

  16. Hang in there honey. Blogging isn’t a job it’s supposed to be fun. So if/when you have time come on back. We’ll leave the light on for you.

    Hang in there.

  17. What Happy Geek said… and please know that the husband and I pray for all y’all.

  18. I don’t know what I could say that would make it any better so I’ll just send ***HUGS*** Most times those are better than words anyway. 🙂

  19. feeling small reminds us how we need someone OTHER than ourselves in our life — that’s okay.

  20. I hope this will encourage you. I found this blog recently (by accident) and realized that this is how I want to blog! It’s about “blogging without obligation”. I pray that you will release this burden and all your other burdens right now, too, to the One Who’s burden is light. Hugs! ~Jen

  21. ditto. I don’t want to give it up, but one post a month is a stretch. . .oh well, one of these days. . .I love your blog, and I’ve loved getting to “know” you.

  22. I’m feeling overwhelmed too … your post hits on a number of the things I’m struggling with. Time for us to take a deep breath!! 🙂 Hang in there, my dear.
