How to make the rockin’est cake ever

Making the rockin’est cake ever (with a 5 year old)…

Begin with 3-4 apples. We chose beauties from the apple festival. Admire them. Shine them. Take a few pictures.

Brutally peel and chop 4 cups.

(Enjoying the peel is an optional step)

In a separate bowl, beat 2 cups of sugar with 1/2 cup of butter. Try not to devour this fattening extravaganza.

Add 2 eggs, 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp. soda, 3 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, and 1 tsp. salt. This batter portion is less tempting for eating, due to fears of salmonella ( or at least that’s what you say to the 5 year old… ).

Add aforementioned chopped apples. Mix. Batter should be very lumpy.

Spread batter into greased 9×13 pan ( or whatever you can find in the mess that is called the kitchen ). Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, then 300 for 45 minutes.

Meanwhile…back in her lair….

Make cake sauce consisting of 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup half & half, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture coats the spoon. Save the spoon to lick when the kids turn their backs.

Pour sauce over the warm cake. Start drooling….NOW.

Slice and serve warm. Protect your slice with your life. One unlucky child at our church homegroup cried in frustration when he learned that his cake had disappeared. The culprit? One of the homegroup leaders decided that one piece just wasn’t enough… (true story).

Hey kid. Anyone who doesn’t gobble this cake down in miliseconds, isn’t worthy of it’s ooey, gooey goodess.

And the copy and paste version of the recipe (but I know you want all my fab pictures):
