Blog Birthday Day 4: 6 Super Powers I’ve Learned

I’ve been blogging for 6 years. And a LOT has happened in those 6 years. Although I started this blog claiming that I’d be able to do so much more if only I had super powers, I feel that I’ve gained quite a few in the last 6 years!

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.02.13I’m literally a stronger person. I completed 2 years worth of P90X and have been going daily to the gym. I can still carry my 8 year old daughter around (which is good since she still loves “upies!”).

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.08.48I’ve developed amazing friendships with other SLP bloggers. Just amazing. You’ll know who some of them are by all the giveaways I’m doing this week! They have been such personal support for me in hard and happy times.

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.25.58Literally because I’ve been taking the kids camping! No easy feat as a single mom (single while camping that is since my husband can’t handle it physically)! Also figuratively survival as we go through really tough health times at home.

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.25.47Even though I was a high school biology teacher before going to grad school for Speech Therapy, I am pretty sure that I only got my real skills as  “teacher” in the last six years. Since then I started merging into the classroom (daily) and feel that  I have developed some great teaching skills. In addition, I’ve had a plethora of student teachers in the last few years and feel that I’ve learned so many great super powers from these experiences.

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.37.21There is no way 6 years ago that I could even imagine putting together the clip art and graphic images that I deal with every day now. My mind is constantly planning, coordinating colors, and creating! Plus, I learned to crochet in the last few years and am quite proud of some of the awesome things I have made (most of my Christmas gifts in the last few years have been crocheted!).

Screenshot 2014-01-20 12.37.28Working my regular school-based job, blogging, couponing, and caring for a sick husband means that I must be organized to get everything done. And although I still have room for improvement, I certainly gained super powers in this area.

There you go. It’s good to reflect on the years and realize the growth I’ve made as a person as well as in my quest for more super powers!
